Ukraine refugee donations needed
We’ve received the following information from Cllr. Wendy Pattison via Hedgeley Parish Council.
Dear Everyone
Just to let you know that NCC County Councillor Wojciech Ploszaj, who is Polish and whose family live near to the Ukrainian border, is coordinating donations re refugees and local collection points.
The Oaks Hotel in Alnwick and the Cheviot Centre in Wooler are, at the moment, the nearest points to donate to.
There is also a removal van going from Berwick on Thursday (03/03/2022) to Poland and the drop-off area is Callerton Kitchens in Spittal.
The suggested items needed are as follows.
- Sleeping bags
- Protein bars/energy bars
- Painkillers (e.g. paracetamol)
- Anti-flu medicine (e.g. Lemsip etc.)
- Wound dressing materials
- First aid kit
- Warm blankets
- Thermal/base layers
- Hot water bottles
- Insulated flasks
- Baby food
- Nappies
- Feminine sanitary products
- Power banks (for charging phones)
- Large and medium-sized backpacks
- Male socks
- Canned food
- Dry food (e.g. pasta & rice)
