Remembering John Taylor
John Taylor, who served as a councillor for more than 28 years, died peacefully at home last week aged 77, after a short illness.
John represented the Longhoughton ward of Northumberland County Council. During a political career of more than 28 years he had served as leader of the former Alnwick District Council and also as a parish councillor. John was active on the district council from 1986 to 2009 and had been a serving member of Northumberland County Council since 2001.
Most recently, residents of Powburn will have known John for the efforts he had put in to improving road safety and reducing speeding through the village.
We would like to publicly thank John for all his hard work and for the enthusiasm with which he served his constituents in his many attempts to make life and living within north Northumberland all the more pleasant.
Our sympathy and condolences go to John’s family and friends.
