The Northumberland Log Bank owes its continuing success to the help of several willing volunteers.
Of course, proper training of people who volunteer to cut and remove logs is essential. And yesterday (Saturday 10 October 2020), three volunteers undertook LANTRA training in safe chainsaw use and crosscutting. Lantra is an awarding body for land-based industries in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
Readers of this website will likely be aware of the Log Bank at Wooler that serves the people of north Northumberland.
Well, Kate Thick (Founding Trustee) of the Northumberland Log Bank project has been in touch with the exciting news that the log bank has now grown to include a site at Haydon Bridge that serves west Northumberland/Tynedale.
Since starting a pilot scheme in Wooler around July of this year, the Northumberland Log Bank has been steadily growing. The Trustees and volunteers have been developing their skills, including the safe use of chainsaws.
