Northumbria Blood Bikes visit Powburn

Last night (11 Sep 2018), Hedgeley Women’s Institute had a visit and talk from a representative of Northumbria Blood Bikes.

Several members were surprised to learn that Northumbria Blood Bikes is a purely voluntary organisation that relies solely on charitable donations to carry out its work.

Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration

Hedgeley Women’s Institute

Hedgeley WI celebrated the Queen’s 90th Birthday by organising a Tea in the Garden, planned for Saturday 23 April 2016. As it happened, the weather was poor on Saturday so the venue was changed to the Breamish Hall.

Human Communication in a nutshell

Say what?

  • How can a trip to the garage be the cause of a communication breakdown?
  • A 4-year-old boy says, “Mummy kissed my daddy!” Is that really appropriate (for his age)?
  • Can we actually communicate without speech?
  • What has a weary ploughman got to do with the inexhaustible creativity of language?

Curious?

I know I am…and I’m giving the talk!

Come along to:
