Many thousands of parents and carers throughout the UK are now having to home school their children. Bit of a shock to the system, eh? We can feel ill-equipped to carry out tasks that we usually leave to the professionals – our teachers, teaching assistants and other educators. But – in addition to the worksheets and learning packs that schools have prepared for their pupils, both on and off line – there are lots and lots of resources online to make use of. Many are already set out into mini lesson plans, so this reduces the amount of time required for preparation.

To celebrate the opening of Branton Community Primary School in September 2016, the Summer Fete held on Saturday 25 June 2016 was a great success!

With fun and free children’s activities, including a treasure hunt, pony rides, football practice, naming a sheep…and more…there were happy, smiling children and adults everywhere. Despite an early threat of rain, the weather held out and the sun also smiled on proceedings.

Following on from the news piece yesterday about the proposed closure of Branton Schools, we are now able to provide information about the petition that has been set up to oppose the closure of Branton Community First School.

The petition has been set up by Claire Wood on the Care2 Petition website. The petition is for the attention of the Prime Minister and the target is 1000 signatures. At the time of publishing this post there 169 signatures.

Consultation report recommends closure

A report on the consultation on the Alnwick Partnership has put forward the proposal to close Branton Schools (Branton Community First School and Breamish Valley Community Nursery) as of August 2017. At this stage, however, this is a proposal and not a final decision.
