Following our call for help to plant bulbs in the Powburn Play Area, several children from Branton Community Primary School and Breamish Valley Nursery came along on 9 November 2021 to plant snowdrops and bluebells. They were accompanied by staff and parents from the school and nursery. In addition, a number of local residents came along as well – armed with trowels and smiling faces.
As part of the ongoing improvements to both the Powburn Play Area and the Powburn Community Garden, we’ve bought new bulbs (snowdrops and bluebells). The children of Branton School have kindly agreed to help plant them. Of course, the more helpers we have, then the easier it will be. So, if you’d like to join in we’re meetings as follows (weather permitting!).
In addition to the recent and ongoing Powburn Community Garden Improvements there are similar improvements taking place in the Powburn Children’s Play Area.
Great news for all parents and children…at the July 2020 Quarterly Meeting of Hedgeley Parish Council on Wednesday 22 July 2020, it was agreed that the Powburn Play Area could now re-open.
Following an appropriate risk assessment in the light of recent UK Government guidelines, the Powburn Play Area will open as from Saturday 25 July 2020. With due consideration to the safety of children, their guardians and local residents the following conditions will apply until further notice.
