Hedgeley Lakes development 360 degrees
A lot has happened since June 2017 when John Carr-Ellison of Hedgeley Estates led a public meeting in Powburn to discuss the Estate’s plans for the management of the Breamish Lakes. Work has progressed on developing unique and diverse habitats for both migrant and resident birds.
Thanks once again to photographer David Hanks, who was accompanied by Robbie Burn (Chair of Hedgeley Parish Council), we are able to view this rare development as a bird’s-eye, 360-degrees view:

Following our recent post showcasing photographer David Hanks’ Branton Lakes 360-degrees aerial ‘movie’, David has been out with his drone again: this time, photographing the Hedgeley Lakes.
His work provides another striking perspective on our local landscape. He’s created two movies: one shot at 100m (which gives the same perspective as the Branton Lakes 360-degrees movie that was also photographed at 100m) and one shot at 50m. You can view them here:

I’ve just had an email from Cheltenham-based photographer David Hanks who has recently been staying at the River Breamish Caravan Club site.
He’s created a stunning 360-degrees aerial view of Branton Lakes Nature Reserve.

It’s that time of the year again – when snowdrops appear seemingly everywhere along the Breamish Valley and throughout Northumberland.
The conditions seem to have been just right as there is a spectacular display of snowdrops this year.

Having enjoyed the photos of the Snowy Dene a couple of weeks ago, Jacqui Knighton has kindly sent some of her own photos of Powburn from her walks around in the snow.
Jacqui moved to Powburn in the summer and is really enjoying life her in the Breamish Valley.

After the winter brew
Well, it didn’t take long after the winter brew stormy skies for the snow to fall in the Breamish Valley.
The Crawley Dene was looking particularly Dickensian with its blanket of snow:

Winter brew at Branton Lakes
Yes, winter’s brewing! Well, the meteorological winter, anyway. It began on 1 December 2017 and it’ll end on 28 February 2018. Of course, if you have a preference for the astronomical seasons, then winter won’t begin until 21 December 2017 and won’t ends until 20 March 2018. Mmm…choices, choices!
