Stonemason at work on War Memorial

The Breamish Valley War Memorial Project continues to progress.

Just yesterday (13 August 2018), John Clark from Elsdon – the official stonemason for the Project – began work on dressing and preparing the old gatepost stone that is to be the main architectural feature of the Memorial. The bronze plaque (in two parts) with the names of all the fallen service personnel from the Breamish Valley was recently cast at the foundry and delivered by Robbie Burn (Project Lead) to the stonemason for fitting.

You can see from Robbie’s reportage images below how John has gone about this time-consuming and skilled task.
