On 8 July 2013 I attended the County Council’s Northern Area Committee Meeting to represent the views of Powburn residents regarding the Council’s recent (see Council Report Prepared). Robbie Burn was due to make the presentation but, unfortunately, was not able to attend, so I attended on his behalf.
I had 5 minutes to set out our outstanding concerns resulting from our consideration of the Council’s report.

I have just received a letter from the County Council informing us that they will not be fully discussing our petition until Monday 9th July. No reason has been given for the delay.

Thirty-five Powburn residents attended the Public Meeting held on 15 March 2013 to get feedback from Councillor John Taylor’s discussions with Northumberland County Council regarding progress with our Stop Speeding! Campaign.
Minutes of the inaugural meeting of the Powburn Stop Speeding! Campaign are now available.
The purpose of the first Public Meeting was to gauge residents’ interest and to decide what action could be taken to prevent a serious or fatal accident occurring on our roads – especially the A697 that runs right through Powburn Village.
It was clear from the number of people who attended the meeting, and for their many comments and suggestions, that this issue causes great concern.
