What is it?
Begun in late Spring of 2019, The Northumberland Log Bank at Wooler operates under the auspices of the Glendale Gateway Trust to provide free wood fuel to people in need.
Who can receive logs?
We deliver seasoned logs to people who have difficulty obtaining or handling logs due to financial constraints, poor health, age or isolation.
NB: The Log Bank is not open to the public.
Who provides the service?
Trained volunteers with appropriate skills help to cut, stack and deliver the logs.
Our volunteers can also help by guiding people towards other appropriate organisations if additional assistance is required.
How is the Log Bank accessed?
- Are you a community organisation, village hall, shop, GP, district nurse, church, parish council or similar?
- Do you personally know someone who may need assistance with wood fuel?
- Are you an individual who requires assistance?
Please help us to contact people who need our help. Confidentiality is assured. Just use the contact details below.

From time to time we may also deliver, free-of-charge, sacks of potatoes donated by a farm near Wooler.
Would you like to help?
We are interested to meet with anyone in the Wooler area who might like to volunteer a few hours per week to help collect, prepare and deliver logs. We are especially keen to meet people with appropriate skills or anyone interested in undergoing training: developing skills and knowledge around safeguarding are also essential.
