Black and white landscape orientation photograph of the Hedgeley Co-operative Society store in Powburn, presented as a postcard. A dog stands just to the left of the entrance.
The typeset inscription reads: “Hedgeley Co-operative Store”.
This image is from a from a postcard sent in 1926 to a Mr R Lillie at the Central Supply Stores in Alnwick (no copy of the original reverse side is currently available). However, it is apparent that the building is clad in corrugated iron. This dates the photograph to before 1923 when a fire destroyed the Co-op. It was later built in stone.
